Fine Jewellery Techniques (JEW4035)
16/03/2018 - Hinges
Yet again, a technique we already did in the first term. This time, Sue was covering for Katy and she gave us a few tips. For example, it’s useful to file a rounded groove in you firebrick, to allow hinge knuckles to be lined up and sunk down from the sheet surface. This gives a wider working range of movement.
Our task was to make something (anything) with a hinge. I took one of my early ideas and made a poison ring.
I bezel set a pyramid shaped cabochon on top of a hinged square box and made a simple catch from a silver ball and loop of wire.
