16/10/2018 - Market Research (instead of Group Crit & Museum Visit)

OK, so I chickened out of going in today.  The groups we were put in meant I'd have to try and be civil to the one person I'm not on speaking terms with, and I've been a bit weepy so just couldn't face it.
I've been to the jewellery quarter museum before and loved it.  I was surprised we didn't go during freshers week, as it's such an integral part of the area.

Staying at home means I can get so much more work done, without the 4 hour commute.

I felt like going "old school" with some mood boards/market research, so bought a couple of magazines to cut up.
I purposely chose all the photos with green, to look at the other colours put with it.

This is the first time I've bought Vogue in my entire life.  It's all adverts, which is a complete waste of money, but in this case a great source of inspiration.  Beautiful photography.

My target customer for this piece lives in the Cotswolds, in a medium sized manor house and attends summer garden parties.
So obviously I needed a copy of Cotswold Life.
This is my area, my green landscapes and honey coloured houses.

Apparently we were supposed to come out of the group crit with a final design sketch to take into the computer room.
These are a couple of scribbles I did in hindsight.  They're terrible.  This may be the one thing I don't manage to do.

Catastrophe

Today is when I discovered that I'd lost the stones I'd been given.  I emailed Jo & Katy to ask where they were from, but never received an answer.
I managed to source my own replacements but the new big stone (green quartz from Wards) is much deeper than the original.  This could stuff everything up by making an already tall ring, even taller.  At least it's a perfect colour match.
