19/10/2018 - CAD Rendering with Matrix
Finally we got our hands on Matrix. This is a separate piece of software to Rhino, but it shares many common elements.
What it does do brilliantly, is rendering.
I don't know how (and with my, I know a lot about how software works) but the high resolution produced by Matrix are very nearly photo-realistic. At first glance they can be mistaken for images of real objects.
It's also great for trying out different combinations of gem colous and metal. However it's so expensive that I imagine this is the last time I'll ever get my hands on it.

I did notice something odd when rendering the vase. I thought I'd have a look at some other materials available on Matrix.
On the left is the "live" render of wood (I think it was maple) and on the right is the high resolution version.
Where is the lovely wood grain? Very strange.
