14/12/2018 - Castings

We weren’t expecting our in-house castings to be ready until after Christmas, so it was very exciting to get the message that they were ready on the last day of term.
Unfortunately mine were terrible.   Gina warned me that there was a lot of flashing (a thin layer of silver that had crept into much of the cut out space).
But the worst thing was the amount of distortion.   The outer ring of my master pattern was totally flat, but the castings were very wobbly.
I was given the option to have them then & there (and spend the holiday cleaning them up) or have them done again (with no guarantee that they would come out any better.  I took them, and looked forward to a Christmas full of filing.
