For years I used a “Thing-a-ma-jig” to make my own ear hooks.

That was until I found this tool.  Like complicated pliers, it turns straight wire into identical ear hooks with one squeeze.

We had to have a go with the jigs provided and I admit, I do like the idea of making my own safety wires as I have lots of customers who always seem to loose earrings.
