Fine Jewellery Techniques (JEW4035)
13/04/2018 - Final Build 1
First day working on my final orrery piece.
I printed out the CAD design as a cutting plan and started on the smaller cog. I tried cutting all around the teeth in one go but found it to be very uneven. So I cut out another by going round the outer circle first, then cutting between the teeth separately. That worked much better and I tidied them up with various needle files.
I then used the same technique for the larger cog.

I also cut out the large circular base plate and arm strip.
Finally I made my 3 bezels from fine silver (because I'm a wimp) and soldered the “earth” one onto the small cog
