30/10/2018 - Final CAD Design - OK Not Quite Finished
I've had very little input from teachers regarding my design. I think I'm just scared they'll say it's rubbish and I have to start again.
However I did end up showing it to Jo, who only mentioned that the large setting was a bit strange and angular, which it definitely was.
So my final design change is to make a more organic shaped setting.
Having finally figured out how to use "pipes" I made the claws flow all the way down to the shank, in one fluid line.
Much better!

As an additional task, we had to model the casting sprues.
The pattern on the outside of my shank, makes standard a standard sprue impossible, so I've hooked it round to feed the inside. Smaller sprues feed the top of the shank and pivot. In comparison, the spruing for the fans and top setting, are pretty straightforward. |
And finally I did an edge analysis to check that all the elements are printable.
