GCDC Neckpiece

Design Sections 2D, #8 Jewellery Design
"This brand-new Patron Special Award by Diamco, a family run business dealing in quality diamonds who pride themselves on delivering a unique personal service of reliability and trust. For this Award Diamco encourage the use and promotion of multiple small diamonds to accentuate a creative and one-off design proposal, thereby offering striking aesthetics and enhanced impact.
Therefore, you are invited to design any type of neckwear with a particular reference and influence on 3D form, movement and/or illusion. There are no restrictions relating to size, weight and cost of your jewel, so feel free to be as creative and adventurous as you like but remember that your use and deployment of diamonds will be ever important, and these need to range between 1mm to 3mm diameter.
Judges will be looking for innovative ideas, a good sense of form/illusion, striking aesthetics and excellent utilisation and deployment of small diamonds. As well as scooping the Diamco special Award the winning entrant will receive a cash prize."

Rather than concentrate on real leopards for my research, I looked at art deco cats for a more stylised feel.
I even bought a Janguar keyring for reference.

I use the photo below (I think it was a GAP advert) as a template for the female torso I'd use in Rhino to position the neckpiece over.

I was able to move the viewpoint around in Rhino, to get a pattern of shadows and highlights I liked.
