20/11/2018 - Silver Ring Repair

Or first task on the laser welder is to repair this shockingly bad ring casting.
We were all given identical castings with porosity, dings, dents, gouges and missing claws to fix.
We also had to resize it up by 2 sizes.
The dings & dents were easily filled with 0.2mm fine silver "filler" wire, however it was very hard to make the new claws look like they belonged.  Resizing was also tricky as it's hard to get the whole cross section welded and just when you think you've done it, the laser blows a hole through into a cavity.
