27/02/2018 -Starting to LOVE My Design
Now I'm starting to get excited about my design, I start imagining it in polished silver, set with gemstones...
The top level of my current design, is just a 3x2mm rectangle. What if it was a stone? What if the clasp link was a stone to make it obvious which one to undo?
I consulted Jo, who said I'd have to send it out to a stone setter. CERTAINLY NOT. I'll jolly well do it myself, that's what I came here for!
So we consulted Sue on how to set a tiny baguette cut stone. She suggested a beveled rectangular hole with tabs on the short edges. In order to get light in to the back of the stone, all the layers would also need holes.

For some reason, Art Deco says sapphire to me. So I popped down to Wards and bought 3x2mm and 4x2mm synthetic sapphires.
I prefer the proportions of the longer stone, so i used the smaller one to try out the setting method. Easy peasy!
