Goldsmiths' Precious Metal Grant
I spent a good week and a half over Chrismas working on this submission. It's a refinement and expansion on the boat automata pendent I made last year.
11 silversmiths and 8 jewellers each year, are awarded £750 worth of precious metal to make their submitted design(s). It's not a tremendous amount of money, and I never really intended to include gold in these designs. But I put in so much work, that it's the competition I'd most like to win. No word so far though... |
Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council Awards
BREAKING NEWS! One of these renders from the last module, has won an award at the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council competition.
I don't know which one, or what level of award, but it doesn't matter. Being able to add "award winning" to my business cards was my biggest aim of this year, and I've done it. I'm so so happy :-)

London Assay Office, Make Your Mark Awards
Quite accidentally I designed a leopard for one of my Goldsmiths' entries. Only later did I realise that it would be suitable for the Make Your Mark Awards, which is for designs/pieces that celebrates the leopards head of the London hallmark.
Luckily I'd already modelled it in CAD (to get my head around how it would work) and the competition allowed CAD renders (which was necessary because the hand rendering was already in London).
Just a week after the submission, I learned that my design had been shortlisted. So I'm off to London on Feb 5th to see it on display at Goldsmiths' Hall and find out who has won.
