Disappointed with my in-house castings, I decided to try out a commercial caster in the Jewellery quarter.
I have been meaning to for ages as I’ll need to find somewhere to use after I graduate.
So I picked Nexgen, which I had identified during some research, and Jo has also recommended.

I believe my in-house mold is ok, but I also took along the master pattern which I have reinforced with milliput, just in case they wanted to make another.

One week later and I have 6 new castings. So much better. No flashing and much less distorted.
They cost about twice as much as the in-house castings, but they need much less cleaning up. Each works out at about £7.30 which at £20/hour is about 20minutes work. I couldn't cut this out in that amount of time, so definitely economically worthwhile.
