19/04/2018 -Tubes & Loop

After scribbling a couple of ideas for a loop design that would borrow a design element from my logo, I decided to keep it simple and make my loop from wire that I'd pattern with my bronze dies and the Bonny Doon press.

Soldering the tubes onto either side of the coin was fiddly and required the hole to be cleaned out a bit with a drill.  I first attempted to sweat solder the tubes in place, which only worked on one side.  So I next made sure the tube sat in properly, and put my solder on the outside.

I had a painful shock after soldering and quenching the coin.  It was STILL hot!  And I got quite a good "brand" on my thumb.

I then bent the patterned wire into a tight curve and cut it to length.
