Stone Setting 1 - four claw

30/10/2017

Now this is why I'm here.  To learn to set faceted stones.

First off is a simple claw setting with 4 prongs.

Using an impossibly tiny 1mm ball burr, a slot was drilled horizontally on the inside of each prong.
The bottom of this slot was also drilled off to form a seat to match the stones profile.

Our homemade pushers were used to secure the stone and bend over the tops of the prongs.

Unfortunately I had to dash off after lunch to collect my car from the garage, so I will have to catch up with the marquise cut stone next time.
